Students may carry on any campus in the state with no legal restrictions, unless a particular area of an institution is equipped with adequate electronic surveillance equipment and armed guards with signage posted under Kansas Statute 75-7c20. Other general restrictions only apply to K-12 schools per Kansas Statute 21-6301.
Students would be inclined to contact state representatives to request that students be able to carry without zone limitations.
Students aged 18 – 20 would face unrelated charges for carrying a firearm without the required permit; students 21 and older do not require a permit to carry. Students attempting to carry in posted zones with adequate security may be trespassing.
The University would be inclined to remove posted no-carry zones and permit students to carry everywhere on campus. Campuses may still have armed guards and electronic security measures without preventing students from carrying a firearm.
