Campus Carry in Wyoming

Are there differences between private and public colleges and universities? 

No, students must receive written consent from campus security to have the opportunity to carry a firearm on campus. 

What can students do to appeal for their Second Amendment rights if they are on an unfriendly campus? 

Students should reach out to university officials to create a program that shall issue requests to carry a firearm, as well as reach out to state representatives to promote legal reinforcement of the right to carry a firearm on campus. 

What would the penalty be if a student is found with a weapon on campus grounds? 

Under the Wyoming Statutes section 6-8-104, a first time offense would result in a misdemeanor and fine of up to $750 and jail time of up to 6 months. Further violations would result in a felony charge, a fine of up to $2000, and imprisonment for up to 2 years. 

For campuses who would allow campus carry but are prevented from doing so by their state law, what are some things the university can do to aid students? 

Campuses are eligible under state law to issue the right to carry to any student who requests.
