“All told, this Court’s intervention is once again necessary to protect the rights of 18-to-20-year-old Virginians to keep and bear arms, and to preserve the centuries-old right to engage in the private and noncommercial transfer of a firearm without government interference.”
GOF, along with Gun Owners of America and other plaintiffs, is challenging two Virginia firearm restrictions in the Circuit Court for the City of Lynchburg. One law prohibits adults under 21 from purchasing handguns and “assault firearms,” while another requires background checks for private firearm sales. The lawsuit involves two young adult Virginians, ages 18 and 19, who want to purchase handguns and AR-15-style rifles through private transactions.
