Summary

A California law (Cal. Penal Code § 26806) requires 24 hour video and audio surveillance for all gun dealers. Even those who conduct their operations on their own home. This effectively requires all persons in California who wish to legally purchase a firearm to be recorded visually and audibly. There is no evidence this reduces crime, yet California put this into effect on January 1st, 2024. GOA, GOF, NRA-CA, Second Amendment Foundation, and several LLCs teamed-up and filed a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) 11 days before the start date. If granted, this would allow time for the court to review the constitutionality of this measure, and for us to make the case it is in violation of both the right to privacy and the right to keep and bear arms.
