Oregon SAPO/SASO

In 2018 and 2020, respectively, voters in Columbia County approved Initiative Measure 5-270, titled the “Second Amendment Preservation Ordinance” (SAPO), and Initiative Measure 5-278, titled the “Second Amendment Sanctuary Ordinance” (SASO). In 2021, they were combined into one ordinance. What this essentially did is turn Columbia County into a "Second Amendment Sanctuary" in the anti-gun state of Oregon. A Second Amendment sanctuary is a municipality which refuses to enforce federal restrictions on the Second Amendment. The state Attorney General petitioned the court to invalidate the ordinance. However, GOA and GOF and several other Second Amendment advocates from Oregon came in defense of the ordinance in court.
